RECOGNIZING THIN SPACES

Why Engage It?

“Thin spaces” can be defined as as the places where the veil between Heaven and Earth is thin. Heaven is not far off, in the clouds, hard to reach- Heaven is intermingled here, in and around our everyday lives.

Keeping our eyes open for Heaven is a great practice. It is a way to remind ourselves of the Kingdom that has already come, and to wait in expectancy for the “not yet.”

How to Practice It

Thin spaces can be ANYWHERE. In nature / at your work or school / in a church / even in a bathroom (there’s a story behind this one)!

Take some time to write down places or times in your past when you felt Heaven was near. When have you felt God’s presence especially strong? Are there places that you feel a strong draw to, always longing to return?

Now that you’ve created a list, you have a better idea at the types of places you experience Thin Spaces. Keep your eyes and heart open for those places that feel sacred. Heaven is all around!
